The ATS MECOR Program in China, launched in 2012, plays a crucial role in building research capacity to address the country’s significant burden of respiratory diseases. The program works in partnership with leading institutions such as Peking University Clinical Research Institute, West China Hospital, and the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Disease.

Since its inception, the program has evolved into a cornerstone for advancing research methodologies in China. With a strong emphasis on local needs, it trains participants to design and conduct studies relevant to their settings and equips them with skills to secure funding and publish their findings in international journals.

Key Achievements

  • Institutional Partnerships: Collaborations with top Chinese research institutions have expanded the program’s reach and impact.
  • Return to In-Person Training: After several years of virtual courses, in-person training resumed in 2023, providing enriched networking and learning opportunities.
  • Research Focus: Emphasis on studies addressing China-specific respiratory challenges, ensuring research has direct public health applications.
