The PATS MECOR Program, established in 2007, is dedicated to improving lung health across Africa by building capacity for high-quality research. It targets clinical and academic physicians, public health professionals, and other healthcare workers committed to advancing respiratory health through evidence-based practices.
The program addresses the unique challenges faced in African healthcare settings by providing participants with the tools to design, conduct, and disseminate impactful research. Beyond classroom training, the program fosters a collaborative research environment, connecting participants with faculty mentors and peers to ensure ongoing growth and support.
Unique Features
- Workshops: Practical, hands-on training in spirometry and air quality monitoring, tailored to the realities of field research in Africa.
- Equipment Repository: Access to loaned equipment to support research projects, reducing barriers for resource-limited settings.
- Focus on Local Impact: Research training is tailored to address region-specific respiratory disease challenges, enabling participants to create meaningful solutions for their communities.
