Previous ATS education committees merged to form the Steering Committee on Advancement and Learning (SCALe) providing a home for education-based groups, initiatives and activities outside of the International Conference.

Mission Statement

The ATS Steering Committee on Advancement and Learning (SCALe) promotes lifelong learning among adult and pediatric pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine clinicians and scientists by delivering innovative and rigorous educational opportunities to enhance their knowledge, competence, and performance, ultimately improving patient outcomes and advancing practice. We aim to foster a culture of continuous professional development that addresses the evolving educational and career advancement needs of our members.

Develop a process to assess ATS year-round and career development proposals that ensures quality and fosters collaboration across SCALe committees and other ATS internal stakeholders

Utilize the results of the ATS-wide needs assessment to identify educational needs and develop a comprehensive year-long learning strategy

Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion with balanced representation in all SCALe committees
