The Assembly on Pulmonary Infections and Tuberculosis (PITB) focuses on all aspects of pulmonary infectious disease and host defense. Although we are not one of the largest ATS assemblies, our programming at the International Conference and our assembly projects make us one of the most visible assemblies. Our statements and guidelines continue to be highly cited, and are among the most accessed documents available on the ATS Web Site.
Our assembly consists of a diverse and enthusiastic group of pulmonologists, infectious disease specialists, and public health and government officials. At present, we have about 3,290 primary and 1,058 secondary members, with about a third of our membership from outside of North America. We have continued to strengthen our relationships with the CDC and with the IDSA and have increased international representation on our committees.
