
Estelle Grover was born in 1919 in Mississippi, the second of five children. Grover was the only one from her siblings to obtain a college education. She graduated with a Master’s Degree in English Literature at the University of Alabama. It was on that campus that she met Robert Grover. At that time Robert Grover was in his first of three years in the US Army. They fell in love, became engaged, and married eleven months later. Only three months later, Robert was sent overseas for 18 months. During that time Estelle worked on the Manhattan Project that created the atom bomb. Estelle and Robert had a wonderful marriage lasting 46 years. Estelle passed away in 1990 due to a developing brain tumor.
