Chair: Samuel Goldfarb, MD
Co-Chair: Pi Chun (Jenny) Cheng, MD, MS

The mission of ATS Pulmonary Complications of Childhood Cancer Special Interest Group is to provide a discussion forum for ATS members from diverse assemblies with an interest in pulmonary complications of childhood cancer therapy, including both acute complications occurring during therapy as well as the late pulmonary complications identified in pediatric and adult childhood cancer survivors. The group is particularly important for junior ATS members who have an interest in scholarship in these areas and provides a mechanism for both adult and pediatric pulmonologists as well as basic scientists interested in mechanisms of pulmonary fibrosis, radiation injury, immunologic lung injury related to HSCT, etc. to interact and develop educational and scholarly work that benefits ATS members.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Explore the mechanisms and impact of childhood cancer therapy, including hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, on pediatric and adult lung function and disease susceptibility.
  • Identify gaps in knowledge in both basic and applied science.
