Section Chair
Lekshmi Santhosh, MD , MEd
Dear Section on Medical Education Members,
It is an incredible honor and privilege to serve as your new Chair of the Section on Medical Education (SoME) for ATS 2025–2026! I’m an Associate Professor at UCSF in Adult Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. I grew up around the world and now live in San Francisco with my two kiddos. My medical education interests include clinical reasoning and diagnostic uncertainty, career choice, diversity and equity, and transitions of care.
I absolutely love ATS! My first experience was at the Resident Boot Camp, and I quickly fell in love with the community when I found all of you, my MedEd people. My top four values for myself and our group are communication, collaboration, transparency, and FUN. Let’s get excited for a great year ahead!
I’m committed to fostering an inclusive membership and making this a fun and exciting year! While our first priority is planning for the 2026 conference, here’s what we’re also looking forward to this year:
• Launching a longitudinal webinar series with an option for a MedEd Certificate
• Increasing integration and collaboration with ScALE, ATS Scholar, Resident Boot Camp/Fellows Track/Student Scholars/New Faculty BootCamp, and more, to strengthen our MedEd family
• Creating a MedEd Speaker Exchange Program
• Building an AI-Assisted MedEd Expertise Database
• Reviving projects like the ATS Reading List
• And more! We’d love to hear your ideas!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d love to see you get more involved as we continue to grow, thrive, and innovate together. Thank you!
Take care,
Lekshmi Santhosh, MD, MEd
