Early Careers Professionals Working Group
The Assembly for Environmental, Occupational, and Population Health (EOPH) is highly focused on recruiting and supporting new members of the EOPH assembly. The Early Career Professionals (ECP) Working Group is a core part of the Assembly that aims to accelerate the career development of its members while fostering new relationships and collaborations within the ATS community.
Our mission is to continuously highlight and promote valuable opportunities for our Early Career members to contribute to the ATS community. The EOPH Early Career Professionals Working Group promotes the career development of our members through several avenues: (1) we host quarterly seminars with ATS leadership and leaders in the field of Environmental, Occupational and Population Health in order to help our members develop core skills related to grantsmanship and dissemination of scientific findings through academic writing; (2) we support an assembly-centered mentorship program that connects early- to mid-career professionals with senior members of their respective assemblies to create a supportive community for career development and networking; (3) we facilitate early career members’ contributions to ATS conference programming by supporting the submission of conference abstracts and symposium proposals; (4) we provide early career members with opportunities to participate in conference programming that aligns with their interests, further increasing ECP members’ participation in the annual conference and facilitating exciting networking opportunities; and (5) we support the ATS Assembly Apprenticeship programs, which provide early-career members with an opportunity to be directly involved in guiding the future of ATS.
The EOPH Early Career Professionals Group is a dynamic group of people who are interested in shaping the national conversation on environmental, occupational, and population health. Join us today!
Sincerely,
Christina Eckhardt, MD, MS & Ranu Surolia, PhD

Ph.D. and Basic and Translational Scientist Working Group
The mission of the ATS Ph.D. and Basic and Translational Scientist Working Group is to advocate for science and discovery by promoting basic/translational research throughout all channels of the ATS.
We are committed to highlighting and supporting basic and translational scientists, with a particular focus on the unique perspectives and contributions of Ph.D. scientists, to enhance and promote the overall ATS mission, driving innovations in global health by advancing scientific discoveries, enhancing patient care, and strengthening public health via research of pulmonary disease, critical illness, and sleep disorders. Ph.D. and basic/translational scientists bring indispensable skill sets to tackle important scientific challenges, and are a critical component of the overarching ATS goals to further scientific discovery.
