Lynn F. Reinke, PhD, ATSF, Awarded the American Thoracic Society’s 2026 J. Randall Curtis Humanism Award for Promoting Respiratory Health
ATS 2026, Orlando, Fla. (May 16, 2026) – The American Thoracic Society is proud to announce that Lynn F. Reinke, PhD, ATSF, has received the J. Randall Curtis Humanism Award. This award celebrates her outstanding work at the University of Utah.

Dr. Reinke and other award recipients were recognized for their achievements at the ATS 2026 International Conference taking place on Orlando, Fla., Friday through Wednesday. The awards recognize outstanding respiratory health contributions, from research and diagnosis to education and advocacy.
Dr. Reinke’s clinical practice in pulmonary medicine influenced her research, which focuses on improving the delivery of palliative and end-of-life care for patients with serious respiratory illnesses.
Randall Curtis Humanism Award celebrates individuals whose work reflects the ideals espoused by its namesake. It honors mentoring skills, compassionate delivery of patient care, competence in science, and respect for patients. The award also recognizes those who champion diversity, equity and inclusion in their daily work.
This year’s ATS awards have placed a special emphasis on efforts designed to eliminate health disparities, and award winners are a diverse group inclusive of all genders, ethnicities and disciplines.
