The Solbert Permutt Trailblazer Award honors Solbert Permutt, an intellectual giant who made groundbreaking contributions to the understanding of pulmonary physiology and respiratory medicine and served as an inspirational mentor for countless trainees and colleagues. This award honors Dr. Permutt by recognizing an established investigator who has performed pioneering research in the area of respiratory structure and function and has guided and inspired others in the field.
The 2026 Solbert Permutt Trailblazer Award winner is Allison Fryer, PhD, from the Oregon Health and Science University. She will present her research titled "Neuroimmune interactions in the Lung". Roy Brower, MD, will be giving introductory remarks of Dr. Permutt's legacy in pulmonary physiology and respiratory medicine.
