Brigitta Fazzini, MSc, PhD, NHS, United Kingdom, and Katie Hauschildt, PhD, Oregon Health & Science University, USA, will present their work examining how qualitative and mixed-methods research can deepen understanding of critical care delivery, decision-making, and recovery after critical illness. Drawing on studies of clinician perspectives, care systems, and patient experiences, the speakers will highlight how qualitative approaches can reveal contextual factors that influence outcomes and implementation in critical care. The session will include discussion of methodological considerations, practical applications for clinicians and investigators, and opportunities to integrate qualitative and mixed methods into critical care research.
