The Joseph R. Rodarte Award for Scientific Distinction honors the late Joseph Rodarte, MD, an internationally recognized leader in respiratory physiology and pulmonary medicine whose groundbreaking contributions advanced both scientific knowledge and clinical practice. The award commemorates Dr. Rodarte's legacy by recognizing an established investigator who has made distinguished contributions to the fields of respiratory medicine or respiratory physiology.

The 2026 Joseph R. Rodarte Award for Scientific Distinction recipient is Geoffrey Maksym, PhD, of Dalhousie University. During this special webinar, Dr. Maksym will present his research titled "Biomechanics, Signals, and Engineering of the Lung: From Cells to Patients". The event will begin with introductory remarks from Jeffrey Fredberg, PhD, highlighting Dr. Rodarte's enduring legacy and impact on respiratory medicine.
