The nurse scientist plays a critical role on interdisciplinary research teams investigating chronic pulmonary diseases, such as COPD and interstitial lung disease. As experts in both clinical practice and research, nurse scientists bring a unique, patient-centered perspective to the investigation of these complex, life limiting conditions. Their contributions are critical in designing studies that address the multifaceted nature of pulmonary diseases, including persistent dyspnea, emotional distress, and the impact of social determinants of health on patient outcomes. Participants will gain critical knowledge and understanding about the role of the nurse scientist in respiratory health.
