Carli S. Koster, MSc, University of Groningen, Netherlands will present their work on "Neuroplasticity and Neuroimmune Interactions in Fatal Asthma" published in Allergy. We will be joined by discussion panelists: Yujuan Su, PhD, University of California San Diego and Thomas Taylor-Clark, PhD, University of South Florida. The panel will discuss how changes in airway nerves or neuroplasticity interact with immune cells (neuroimmune interactions) further contributing to severity of fatal asthma. The group has provided evidence from individual lung specimens of 10-12 individuals by multiple techniques and determined enhanced nerve-immune interactions as well as structural nerve changes driving inflammation in fatal asthma.
