This webinar is designed for early-career professionals within the EOPH-ECPWG. It will focus on the grant programs offered by the American Lung Association (ALA) that specifically support the next generation of lung health researchers, including the Catalyst Research Award. These initiatives, in partnership with the Accelerator Program, aim to help investigators achieve independence. The awards often include mentorship and are intended to support promising young faculty and fellows engaged in basic, translational, or clinical research in lung health.

Ms. Maria Brancato, Director of the Nationwide Research Institute at the American Lung Association, will provide an overview of ALA’s research funding mechanisms and offer guidance on how to prepare a competitive application. Additionally, Amali Samarasinghe, PhD, MS, Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin, will share her insights as both a former ALA awardee and a seasoned reviewer for ALA and NIH grant panels. Dr. Samarasinghe will offer tips on aligning proposals with ALA priorities and enhancing research narratives.

This session is ideal for early-career investigators, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members interested in applying for ALA funding.
