Do you know a talented teacher and clinician? Nominate them for the ATS 2027 Core Curriculum Faculty to lead, publish, and inspire.

Overview

Since 2012, the American Thoracic Society’s Core Curriculum has provided ATS members the opportunity to participate in relevant clinical reviews while fulfilling Maintenance of Certification requirements. The Core Curriculum consists of a presentation at the ATS International Conference, contribution to an enduring Maintenance of Certification question module, and a scholarly product in the pillars of adult pulmonary, critical care, sleep, and pediatric pulmonary medicine.

We are writing to ask you to consider nominating a colleague to participate in the ATS 2027 Core Curriculum.

Who Should You Nominate?

Invited contributors must commit to participation in all program facets listed below. There is a considerable amount of work involved in the process with strict deadlines.

Candidates for participation should possess the following qualifications:

  • Early career faculty is preferred; however, associate professors will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively (give and receive feedback, make edits when suggested, etc.)
  • Excellent public speaking skills.
  • Skill and experience in clinical teaching.
  • Content expertise (topics listed below).
  • Experience with writing board-style questions preferred.
  • Able to consistently meet deadlines.

What Will Be Asked of Invited Contributors?

The following outlines the expected deliverable materials and timeline:

  • Three learning objectives and bullet outline (due Nov 2026).
  • Three multiple choice questions with a clinical stem, rationale, and references (due January 2027).
  • 25-minute presentation to be given at 2027 ATS International Conference in May 2027 (due March 2027).
  • Concise Clinical Review (April 2027).
  • ATS Scholar Final Submission Concise Clinical Review (July 2027).

How Do I Nominate a Colleague?

Consider the topics below and then submit nominations via the speaker nomination form. You may make as many nominations as you deem appropriate. Nominations will be accepted through Monday, Sept. 7, 2026.
