Pediatric Resident Development Scholarship

The ATS Pediatric Resident Development Scholarship (PRDS) introduces pediatric residents to exciting clinical and research advances in respiratory diseases that affect infants, children, and adolescents by providing awardees an opportunity to attend the annual ATS International Conference in Orlando. This educational program will encourage participating residents to apply to pediatric pulmonology and/or sleep medicine fellowships, which will ultimately increase the clinical and research workforce in these fields.

Each PRDS awardee will receive a travel scholarship, a certificate of achievement, complimentary conference registration and one year’s trainee membership to the Society.

An applicant for an ATS Pediatric Resident Development Scholarship MUST:

• Be a resident in a U.S. or Canadian pediatric training program, who has not been accepted into a pediatric pulmonary and/or sleep fellowship program.
• Declare an interest in pediatric pulmonary or sleep medicine.
• Be willing to provide career information for a minimum of five years to measure the effectiveness of the program.

Optional: Special consideration will be given to applicants who are authors of abstracts accepted for presentation or are presenters at sessions programmed at the ATS International Conference.

Funding the next generation of pediatric pulmonologists and sleep physicians to attend the ATS International Conference is vital as there is a critical shortage of physicians and researchers to care for children with breathing and sleep disorders. The PRDS program provides a mechanism by which to support pediatric residents interested in fellowship training.
