Meet the 2026 Awardee: Ashely J. Losier, MD

Ashley J. Losier, MD

Ashley Losier, MD is an assistant Professor of Medicine at Yale University and a pulmonary and critical care physician with expertise in bronchiectasis and complex chronic pulmonary infections, including nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease. She serves as Associate Program Director of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship, where she leads initiatives to enhance the ambulatory training experience and foster trainee development in subspecialty pulmonary care. She also directs the Bronchiectasis, NTM, and Tuberculosis programs at the Yale Winchester Center for Lung Disease.

Dr. Losier’s academic work centers on advancing care for patients with non–cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis and NTM through patient-centered outcomes research and clinical trials. She is a site principal investigator for multiple studies in bronchiectasis and NTM, contributing to the development of evidence-based approaches to these complex conditions.

A dedicated member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and the Pulmonary Infections and Tuberculosis (PITB) Assembly since her residency and fellowship, Dr. Losier has demonstrated sustained commitment to education, mentorship, and scientific engagement. She has presented original research, moderated scientific sessions, and contributed to “Meet the Expert” programs in PITB assembly areas including pneumonia, bronchiectasis, and NTM. She has also served on PITB program and planning committees.

Dr. Losier has been an active leader within the PITB Early Career Working Group (ECWG) since 2020, contributing to initiatives including the teaching competition, apprenticeship, and mentorship programs. She recently completed her term as ECWG Chair, reflecting her commitment to cultivating the next generation of clinician-educators and investigators. Within ATS, she has also participated in methodology training programs and supported the ATS Student Scholars Program, further underscoring her dedication to education and career development.s.

This award is given to a PI-TB member with a record of a clear commitment to PI-TB and ATS, advancing their missions, and with a contribution(s) to the PI-TB Assembly in the area(s) of research, clinical care, teaching, or service (not necessarily leadership).

Criteria

  • In-training, Instructor, Early Assistant Professor, or equivalent
  • Within 10 years from having completed postdoctoral or clinical training, excluding time off for personal circumstances
  • PI-TB Assembly Member (primary or secondary)
  • Contribution(s) to the PI-TB Assembly and/or ATS in basic science, translational science, epidemiology, public health and/or “bedside to the community” (implementation) research, clinical care, teaching, or service (not necessarily leadership).
  • Early Career nominees may be considered alternatively for a Rising Star Award, based on research.
